You need:

A sponge
Mustard seeds
Plastic plate
Scissors
Spray bottle
Sun

Cut the sponge into a shape (could be a star or a fish). Then soak the sponge in the water so that it is not dripping, and keep it in the plate. Sprinkle the seeds onto it. Now keep it in a sunny spot, and make sure the sponge is damp throughout the day.

Within 3-4 days you will begin to see little mustard sprouts. Continue to take care of them and you will soon have a little shaped garden!

why does this work?
The seeds carry their own food supply and when they start off, all they need is water, light, and the right temperature. As they grow bigger, their supply gets over and they need to be put into the ground, so that they can take food from the soil.
